When you switch energy providers, your new provider will contact your utility company notifying them that you are switching providers. Once your utility company has confirmed that you're eligible to switch energy providers, your new rate will go into effect.
In most areas, you will continue to receive and pay your energy bill through your local utility company. If you're a Texas resident, you will get billed directly by your new provider once your new service starts.
